One of the gallieries lit by natural light in the Museo de Xochicalco at the Xochicalco archaeolgical site near Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico. This archaeological museum, which opened in 1995, is built on the principles of ecological sustainability and is almost totally energy self-sufficient. Xochicalco flourished between 700 and 900 AD and was once one of the most important ciities in Mesoamerica. Xochicalco was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999.
