The 4,400 square-foot museum cost about 15 million dollars to build, and it displays some 350 archaeological artifacts. The building's striking hurricane-proof design was the work of Mexican architect Alberto Garcia Lascuráin. The adjacent San Miguelito archaeological site dates back 800 years.
